thoughts: Both of these films find me at the start of directing, unsteady and unsure of myself, leaning heavily on the actors and on the source material (at least in the case of I’m Your Man). I made both with a crew of 2 - Scott Ballard shooting and Meghan Lybrand holding the boom. Despite the rough-around-the-edges feel here, primarily attributable to my greenness, I still like the vibe and feel of them, primarily attributable to the actors, Jacob Morehead as Burt and Lanie Hoyo as Sheryl. Also I’m Your Man indelibly features Christine Calfas as Dr. Foote and My Beer With Bill features comedic talent Mike Tanner as the titular Bill. Evonne Moritz edited I’m Your Man and I edited My Beer With Bill. I’m Your Man features a song by Joe Haege, commissioned for the close credits.

Margaret Malone has another story about Burt & Sheryl called You Are Here which can be found - along with I’m Your Man - in her story collection People Like You which I highly recommend.
